FAQ
When and what time do your Workshops (pops) run?
Every weekday and we will soon be offering our weekend pop in workshops (starting February 2020) We will also be offering our adult timetable very soon so please keep an eye on our website for further details.
Where are your workshops (pops) held?
Our workshops are held at our popboxart Creative Store in Nunhead SE15
What Artwork will my child make?
We are commited to exploring all art mediums and encouraging all our participants to try different techniques. One week we may paint, the next week we might print and the next we might use clay. Its really important to us that ideas develop and work shows progression.
Do parents/carers need to stay?
No popbox is a drop off club although if you’re planning on coming to preschool grown ups will need to stay and make too!. The workshops are an hour and a half so there is no need to be rushing around.
Do you provide a pick up service from schools?
Unfortunately we don’t have time to collect from schools, we need to prep our workshops and be ready to start for 4pm.
We really appreciate good time management please make sure you drop and collect in line with workshop timings.
What materials do you use in your workshops?
‘pop1’ - ready mix paint (not acrylic), watercolour paint, printing ink, air drying clay, washable PVA glue, papier mâché, ‘classmate’ scissors, collage materials
‘pop2’ - acrylic paint, watercolour paint, printing ink, air drying clay, washable PVA glue, papier mâché, scissors, craft knives, collage materials, ‘modroc’- plaster bandage.
(on signing up to one of our workshops we will ask a couple of questions relating to allergies etc to make sure the wet consumables are safe for your child to use)
Can we just turn up?
Unfortunately not. In order for participants to develop their skills our workshops are designed to run half termly.
What do we need to bring?
A healthy snack for your child. We will supply water to drink. When you sign up for the first time you will receive a ‘popboxkit’ (watercolour paint, paint brushes, A5 sketchbook all in a handy pouch) please feel free to bring this.
How will we see our childs progress?
You’ll see your child’s work in their A5 sketchbook each week (3D work will be evidenced with photos) Hopefully once your child has been attending for a few weeks you will see how their skills have improved. At the end of each 6 week ‘pop’ there will be a ‘private view’ of your child’s work. Work will also be exhibited on our website.
How many children can attend a workshop (pop)?
We want to provide the best making environment that we can so our workshops can facilitate 12 participants at a time.
